Débat entre lycées 2023

As part of the NATIONAL LANGUAGES WEEK, on March 29th and 31st, the TERMINALE CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH GROUP (code name: TAMC!) and their teacher Ms LAUGA rose to the APAG’s (Association des professeurs d’anglais de Guadeloupe) challenges: interschool debates and kahoot (trivia quiz on the Caribbean).
4 TAMC students from LYCEE ROBERT WEINUM debated on line with 4 students from LYCEE VERSAILLES AMC coached by Teacher Murielle TOLESINGA from Guadeloupe.

The topics assigned were:
1. Freedom of speech is more important than religious sensitivities.
2. Everybody should be a vegetarian.

Teacher’s testimony:

” We prepared together and off they went. To watch my St Martin students debate was an honor and a source of great joy. I have seen those young
men and women bloom as citizens over the last year! I thank them and the APAG.”

Students testimonies

“I would just like to say thank you for believing in me and for helping us prepare for the debate. I would also like to thank you for giving us an opportunity to participate in a debate before finishing our last year in High school. It was a great experience and I was able to learn a lot. I hope we’ll be able to do another soon enough.”

“The debate was an exciting new thing to do. The tension between the kids was immaculate. I can’t think of what I would have rather done than to be there at that video chat debate, although I would rather have had it face to face! It was still quite interesting.”

“For the debate the opponents were ahead of us. We thought we had time but we didn’t pull out our main arguments so next time we need a timer that everybody can see!”

“About the Kahoot! It wasn’t bad at all !!”

“The kahoots were really nice and encouraging. I loved the energy and the vibe they gave off.”
